What is my work about?
My work is about visually un-defining what i already know. Using a visual vocabulary I am a translator who works in paint but not limited to painting.
Artist Statement
I don’t try to understand my practice analytically. It remains a process of conjuring the uncanny from a foreign headspace in a familiar dialect. I do this with a mostly objective visual vocabulary that becomes translated into something recognizable yet undefined. This process takes multiple forms but painting is often the most standard, direct form for me to convey visual language. Painting for me is a process of unlearning and relearning what I have established as true and never arriving at any definite understanding. I embrace the uncertainty of my artistic practice in a constant growth to knowingly forget what I know.
